Das Nationalmonument (auch als „Tatik-Papik” bzw. „Mütterchen und Väterchen” bekannt) steht am Rand der Hauptstadt Stepanakert auf einem Hügel. Die Figuren symbolisieren den Zusammenhalt der Familie, Achtung vor den Alten und vor der Geschichte des Landes. Der offizielle Name des Monuments lautet «Մենք ենք, մեր սարերը», was soviel bedeutet wie: „Wir sind unsere Berge”. Es stammt von Sarkis Baghdasarian (1967) und beruht auf einer älteren Skulptur-Variante, die in den 1960er Jahren in Italien einen Preis gewonnen hatte.

The national monument (also known as "Tatik-Papik" what means "Grandma and Grandpa") is situated on a hill near Stepanakert, the capital city of NKR. This sculpture symbolizes solidarity of the family, respect to the ancestors and the country's history. The official name of this monument is «Մենք ենք, մեր սարերը» – it means "We are our mountains". It was created by Sarkis Baghdasarian in 1967, and it based on a former sculpture that won an award in Italy in the 1960s.
